Position Summary: The Pre-K Teacher is responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate instruction across core subjects while fostering an inclusive, global perspective in the classroom. The role requires adapting teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and developmental needs, alongside conducting ongoing assessments to modify lesson plans and track student achievement. Beyond day-to-day instruction and classroom management, the teacher will collaborate with grade-level peers, support school-wide initiatives and co-curricular activities, and maintain clear communication with parents and staff.
 
Specific Duties Include:
  • Provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language arts, math, social studies, and other subject matter suited to students’ needs. 
  • Encourage an inclusive learning environment that accepts students’ different perspectives and backgrounds and builds a global perspective on the world around them. 
  • Utilize various teaching methods to engage different learning styles for students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities. 
  • Create a learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and learning styles of the students .
  • Carry out ongoing assessment of students’ needs; writes and modifies the lesson plans as needed; maintains student achievement records .
  • Manage student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment.
  • Work cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to develop instructional materials that are most appropriate for meeting curricular objectives.
  • Maintain substitute plans and engage substitutes in advance when needed and when possible. 
  • Meet reporting deadlines and requirements and follows school-wide procedures for reporting progress/grades. 
  • Assist with projects and school-wide initiatives including co-curricular activities.
  • Engage in goal setting and demonstrates a willingness to learn, grow, and improve as a teacher.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for interactions with students, parents and fellow staff members.
  • Proficient in the use of technology support platforms/programs that will support student learning.
  • Willingness to follow school procedures and regulations.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and approach.
  • Ability to contribute to co-curricular activities.
  • Commitment to continuous upskilling of the content area(s) taught.
Minimum Job Qualifications: 
  • Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • 2+ years of elementary classroom teaching experience preferred.
 
The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, Woodward North position is an exempt, 10-month position.
