Springmont School seeks a thoughtful, organized, and service-oriented Human Resources Manager to serve as the school’s primary HR partner and support ethical, compliant, and effective employment practices across the school. This is a full-time (7:45 am-4:15pm), on campus role. As a member of the Administrative Leadership Team, this role partners closely with the Head of School and Business Office on hiring, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, records management, and HR policies. The Human Resources Manager serves as a trusted resource for employees and helps foster a professional, inclusive, and mission-aligned workplace.

Primary Responsibilities
HR Leadership
- Partner with the Head of School on people-related decisions, contributing HR expertise to conversations on staffing, employee matters, and sensitive personnel situations
- Serve as the school's day-to-day HR expert, translating employment law requirements and HR best practice into practical guidance for supervisors and school operations
- Partner with the Head of School and CFO on annual employee cycles, including employment contracts, stipends, and compensation review
- Maintain basic HR data — such as turnover, hiring activity, and compliance status — and share observations with the Head of School for board meetings and as patterns emerge
Employee Relations and Culture
- Coach supervisors through performance conversations, feedback, and workplace concerns
- Support the resolution of workplace concerns with discretion and sound judgment; coach supervisors and employees through difficult conversations
- Serve as a trusted, approachable HR resource for employees and supervisors
- Champion culture and community-building initiatives that reinforce the school's mission and values, including coordinating employee events
Talent Acquisition and Development
- Lead the full hiring cycle end-to-end — posting, screening, interviewing, references, and offer strategy — advising hiring managers throughout
- Steward the school's job description library, developing and refining descriptions for all roles as needed
- Design and continuously improve onboarding to accelerate new-hire effectiveness, integration, and retention
- Support the school's professional development processes for faculty and staff, in partnership with academic leadership
Compliance, Records, and Risk
- Ensure the school's day-to-day compliance with FMLA, FLSA, workers' compensation, background check requirements, Georgia BFTS/DECAL regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations
- Steward the Employee Handbook; recommend policy updates as legal, cultural, or operational context evolves
- Ensure integrity of employment records — including background checks, BFTS certifications, MVR checks for employees and parent volunteers, years of service, degrees, and credentials
- Proactively identify and address employment-related risk exposure
HR Operations
- Manage employee data and records in the school's HRIS (ADP), including new-hire onboarding entry, changes, and terminations
- Provide the CFO with timely and accurate payroll change information (new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, stipends, leave, benefits changes) to support each pay cycle
- Administer benefits day-to-day; partner with the CFO on annual renewal evaluation, coordinate open enrollment logistics, and support employees through open enrollment communication and questions; update and maintain recordkeeping
- Coordinate leave administration in partnership with the Business Office
- Manage the HR budget
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including generalist responsibilities across employee relations, hiring, compliance, and benefits/payroll coordination
- Demonstrated experience coaching supervisors and advising leadership on people matters
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment law (FMLA, FLSA, workers' compensation, background check requirements, and other applicable regulations)
- Experience with HRIS platforms (ADP experience preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and comfort with HR-related technology
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; meticulous recordkeeping practice
Preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
- Independent school HR experience, or experience in a mission-driven organization
- Experience with benefits administration and open enrollment
- Experience partnering with a CFO or Business Office on payroll and benefits
