Westchester Country Day School, a PreK-12 college preparatory school located in High Point, NC, seeks a Director of Food Services starting for the 2026-2027 school year (8/13/2026). The Director of Food Services will oversee all aspects of our food services department, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals that align with our school’s values and dietary guidelines. The Director of Food Services is a ten-month staff member who follows the same calendar as the faculty. Specific job responsibilities include:
Developing and executing a culinary vision that reflects our commitment to healthy eating, sustainability, and innovation.
Managing daily operations of the dining facilities, including food ordering and delivery, menu planning and communication, food preparation, and service.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, and fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
Collaborating with the school nurse and parents of students who have food allergies or special food requirements.
Monitoring food costs and budgetary guidelines, striving for cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers to source fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Engaging with students, faculty, and families to solicit feedback and continuously improve food service offerings.
Working with event coordinators on special events and catered functions, providing exceptional service and memorable dining experiences.
Evaluating equipment needs for repair or purchasing new, as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience (5+ years) in culinary management, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
In-depth knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and sanitation standards.
ServSafe certified.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency in budget management.
Commitment to sustainability practices and awareness of current culinary trends.
