The College & Career Counselor supports students and families through the college and post-secondary planning process. The counselor provides individualized guidance, teaches college counseling curriculum, and collaborates with faculty, families, and college representatives to ensure students are prepared for college or career pathways.

The salary range for this position is $63,000–$67,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Mill Springs Academy offers a competitive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan options, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students and families on college and career planning.

  • Guide students through college selection, applications, essays, and admissions procedures.

  • Review essays, write school recommendations, and help develop appropriate college lists.

  • Build relationships with college representatives and coordinate college visits and events.

  • Teach college counseling curriculum and present programs for students and parents.

  • Maintain accurate student records in collaboration with the registrar.

  • Assist with PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP testing administration.

  • Plan college fairs, information sessions, and post-secondary events.

  • Maintain and update college counseling resources and family guides.

  • Educate families on dual enrollment, vocational, and alternative post-secondary options.

  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

  • 3+ years experience in college counseling, admissions, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of the college admissions process and post-secondary options.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.

  • Experience working with diverse learners preferred.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and college counseling software.
