Job Title: Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator & Grades 9-12 Teacher
Reports to: Upper School Division Director
Role Duration: 10 months, full time, start August 2026
Position Summary:
The role of the Ashley Hall Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator is to plan and oversee the IB Diploma accreditation process, with the ultimate goal of being authorized to offer the IB Diploma by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
The DP Coordinator has overall responsibility for:
- Leadership
- Work with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning and the Upper School Division Director to develop a step-by-step plan to gain authorization to offer the IB DP
- Offer DP guidance/training/workshops as needed during regularly scheduled meetings
- Support and mentor upper school teachers through all facets of the IB programme
- Communication
- Keep the School’s leadership regularly informed of DP developments
- Maintain communication between Ashley Hall and the IB
- Work with the Division Director to create a communication plan
- Provide curriculum-related parent meetings and workshop opportunities
- Professional Development
- Identify areas for professional development
- Provide divisional, small group, and individual professional development opportunities as needed
- Curriculum
- Participate with school leadership on curriculum and assessment within school and the IBDP
- Provide upper school teachers with relevant and up to date IB and IBDP curriculum documentation and documentation framework support
- Provide guidance and support to upper school teachers in understanding DP Scope and Sequence documents
- Student Experience
- Working with Grades 9-12 teachers, oversee and implement service learning opportunities and field trips aligned with IB goals and priorities
- Work with 9th-12th Grade leadership to organize weekly IB-themed assemblies
- Provide guidance and support
- Parents
- Advise parents on the suitability of the IB Program for their child(ren)
- Inform parents about the benefits and requirements of the IBDP
- Notify parents about their child(ren)’s progress
- Provide comprehensive information to parents about the DP and the School’s milestones
- Documentation and Resource Management
- Assist the Upper School Director with scheduling to support implementation of the Programme
- Keep records of all correspondence with the IB, including forms, documents, and reports
- Assist the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning in determining main curriculum resources and other needs for professional development
- Manage the IB Diploma Programme budget
- Teach a minimum of one academic course within the successful candidate’s subject-discipline expertise or in a discipline area that compliments curricular programming
- Model effective, research-based instructional strategies
- Possess the flexibility and willingness to teach and support interdisciplinary courses
Qualifications:
- Established knowledge of IBDP Programme through teaching in the framework and or coordinating the IB
- A master's degree in teaching, education, education leadership, or a related field pertinent to this specific role
- Exceptional self-starter with a high degree of self-management and the ability to take initiative while being in continuous communication and collaboration with multiple stakeholders
- Trained in and/or experience with student-centered and experiential instruction
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Can demonstrate a record of collaborative teaching
- Possesses an ability to build authentic relationships with colleagues and students
- Is able to create and contribute to a joyful and inclusive community based on open communication, understanding and respect
- Has a committed practice of professional reflection, inquiry, iteration, and innovation
- Actively seeks purposeful growth in themselves and in others
- Reliably meets expectations and deadlines
