Position Summary: The Director of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership for the school’s technology infrastructure, systems, and services. This role ensures the reliable, secure, and innovative use of technology across academic, administrative, and operational functions. The Director oversees enterprise-level data systems, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, support services, life safety systems, and long-range planning. This leader supervises a team of technology professionals and works closely with all school divisions to support a dynamic and evolving campus environment.
Specific Duties Include:
- Collaborate with academic, administrative, and operational leadership of the school to ensure technology support is reliable, efficient, and supports institutional goals.
- Ensure technology operations and projects are managed in a highly organized manner in alignment with best practices, to ensure reliability and continuity of service.
- Manage the school’s enterprise data environment, ensuring secure and effective use of platforms across departments, and identify and implement improvements.
- Develop and manage technology budgets and asset lifecycle plans, with a focus on planning strategically and cost-effectively
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend solutions as appropriate.
- Support schoolwide technology projects, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to achieve successful outcomes.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies that improve user experiences and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee the planning, deployment, and maintenance of hardware, software, technology infrastructure, security, and life-safety systems to ensure effective performance, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
- Regularly review IT security policies, protocols, disaster recovery plans, and risk management strategies to safeguard the school’s digital assets.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of seven technology professionals in supporting the school community.
- Maintain accurate documentation, inventory, and licensing records.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and technology procurement processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency and technical knowledge in key areas of technology management, with hands-on expertise and experience in enterprise data systems management and integration, network infrastructure, and client services.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent technology programs and projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively across school departments and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Exemplary communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey ideas, inspire confidence, and engage stakeholders with various levels of technology fluency
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to develop and support a cohesive team.
- Strong commitment to responsive, service-oriented support.
- The ability to think strategically while addressing immediate needs, combining vision with attention to detail
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- A record of progressively increasing responsibility and experience in technology services, with 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Experience in an independent school or nonprofit setting is preferred.
- Availability to respond to critical issues after hours, as needed.
The Director of Information Technology position is an exempt status, 12-month position.
