Position Summary:  The Director of Auxiliary Programs is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational execution of all summer and auxiliary programs offered by the school. This includes summer camps, facility rentals, and other revenue-generating activities. The Director ensures programs are in alignment with the school's mission, positioned for growth, aligned with financial goals, well organized, safe, compliant with applicable laws and best practices, and supportive of the school's community engagement goals and strategic plan. 

 

Specific Duties Include:

  • Lead the strategic planning, development, and supervision of summer, enrichment, and auxiliary programs that serve the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth of students and families.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate summer staff, instructors, and seasonal employees.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure all programs align with the school’s educational philosophy, values, and strategic priorities.
  • Design and incubate innovative, future-focused programming that anticipates trends in education, youth development, and family engagement.
  • Regularly collect and analyze feedback from participants, families, and staff to guide continuous improvement, ensure high-quality experiences, and coordinate marketing and outreach efforts to grow visibility and participation.
  • Leverage the school’s intellectual, cultural, and physical assets to expand program offerings, increase visibility, and foster mission-aligned engagement across constituencies.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance program impact, diversify offerings, and create new opportunities for learning and connection.
  • Oversee the use of school facilities by external parties and enforce campus standards and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, school policies, licensing, and insurance requirements.
  • Participate in special projects and institutional initiatives as requested, contributing expertise in areas such as facilities planning, safety, and campus collaboration.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset in fulfilling evolving responsibilities that support the mission and operational success of the school. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working with a wide range of stakeholders, including families, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Experience with budgeting, program development, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with vendor contracts, liability considerations, and rental coordination.
  • Proficiency with registration and scheduling software platforms (e.g., CampBrain, UltraCamp) preferred.

Minimum Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in Education, Recreation, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing auxiliary programs is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to lead teams.
  • Experience in an independent school or nonprofit setting 
  • Availability for extended hours during the summer and occasional weekend or evening responsibilities.

 

 

The Director of Auxiliary Programs position is an exempt status, 12-month position.
