Job Title: Director of Development

Appointed by: Head of School

Responsible to: Head of School

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the SCPS Staff Handbook.

Goal: To create and manage all SCPS fundraising programs.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee the daily operations of all development activities, creating a supportive climate for the school and its mission
  • Develop and implement plans and programs for cultivating new and existing relationships over a broad constituent base (grandparents, parents of alumni, special friends) for involvement in annual giving, capital campaigns, projects/initiatives, and planned giving programs
  • Execute follow-up on all gift pledges
  • Keep faculty and staff informed of and active in development efforts
  • Oversee the management of databases as they relate to families, friends, alumni, donors, and volunteers
  • Create and implement a strategic fundraising plan for SCPS, including Georgia GOAL, Annual Fund, and Capital Campaign
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for obtaining donations
  • Identify, solicit, steward, maintain, and upgrade annual giving donors
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects (current parents, alumni parents, corporations, and foundations)

Requirements

  • Models Christian character in speech and actions
  • Commitment to SCPS’ Vision Statement, Mission Statement and Core Values
  • Bachelor’s Degree and work experience or equivalent and relevant training and experience
  • Ideal candidate will have fundraising experience for nonprofit organizations
  • Project management skills
  • Well-organized, able to change work focus quickly and constantly throughout the day, as well as determine priorities with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional people and communication skills, phone etiquette, maintaining a positive, pleasant demeanor to all constituencies
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely and communicate through other mediums
  • Must be proactive, willing to change or implement new ideas by thinking outside the box to further the mission of the school
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time during events and activities
