The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a dynamic and engaging Lower School Music Educator & 4th-5th Grade Chorus Director to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time position is responsible for delivering a comprehensive music curriculum to students in Pre-K though 5th grade on both the Siesta Key and the Clark Road Campus, with a special focus on directing the 4th and 5th grade chorus.

Responsibilities - Reporting to the Head of Lower School, the Lower School Music Educator & 4th-5th Grade Chorus Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement an engaging and developmentally appropriate Pre-K through 5th grade general music curriculum.
  • Lead and direct the 4th and 5th-grade chorus, preparing students for performances throughout the year.
  • Foster a love of music through singing, movement, rhythm, and instrumental instruction.

  • Organize and direct school concerts, performances, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Be an active member of the Florida Music Educators Association

Qualifications - The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and/or preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music education required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience music classroom teaching, ideally in an independent school setting.
  • Orff, Music Garden, or Lower School Music Certification (Fl K-12) preferred.
  • Passion for choral music and experience leading elementary-age choirs.
  • Passion for learning and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and the Google drive platform.
  • A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, and parents.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a 10-month full-time exempt position available in August 2025. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
