Position Overview

The Assistant Head of School primarily focuses on emergent school culture, implementing strategic initiatives, and providing tactical communications on behalf of the Head of School. In this capacity, the incumbent works closely with and supports the HOS in advancing the school’s mission and overall strategic effectiveness, while also having the autonomy to prioritize and execute on strategic issues.

Serving on the Executive Council, the selected individual assists the school’s leadership team in executing and assessing strategic priorities. The individual also provides leadership to related external school affairs and school communications.

This new position is tailored for an individual who wants to work with a strong leadership team and aspires to school leadership. It will require an individual who has an entrepreneurial growth mindset, creative thinking skills, and personal grit that complements the rest of the leadership team. Additionally, the individual must be capable of managing multiple tasks during the day while maintaining a positive attitude.

Position Responsibilities

The Assistant Head of School will drive initiatives that positively advance the school, aligning its mission with school community needs and amplifying its influence.

  • Serve as a thought partner to the Head of School in executing and assessing the school’s strategic plan.
  • Champion and cultivate a Christ-honoring school culture that supports the academic, spiritual, and emotional well-being of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for strategic initiatives and special projects impacting the entire school community.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive strategies for communications, community engagement, and strategic impact initiatives that align with the school’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Advises the HOS and senior leadership on issues, community needs, and strategic opportunities to enhance the school’s reputation and outreach.
  • Represents the school in public forums and community events and, in collaboration with the Head of School.
  • Collaborates with academic leadership to integrate community-engaged learning and research into curriculum and faculty initiatives.
  • Directs and manages programs and external communication functions.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with key internal and external constituents.
  • Collaborate with leadership across campus to ensure broad-based participation in strategic initiatives.
  • Directly supervises and maintains open lines of communication with and provides strategic guidance for all assigned personnel.
