Our Marketing and Communications team works collaboratively to tell powerful stories, engage key audiences, and enhance the school’s visibility through creative, high-quality content.
To further strengthen our communications strategy, we are excited to introduce a new role to our team. The Assistant Director of Communications will be instrumental in shaping and delivering the school’s messaging across multiple platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and meaningful engagement. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic communicator to craft compelling narratives, elevate the CDS experience, and expand our reach in meaningful ways.
Seek out school stories and craft narratives that highlight programs, achievements, and community impact.
Manages publication content strategy, creation and timelines.
Assist in the creation of print and digital marketing materials.
Oversees the administration and integrity of the school’s public-facing website to ensure brand consistency, relevancy, timeliness, and content accuracy; performs updates as needed
Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to implement communication strategies that align with the school’s mission and goals.
Helps prepare news releases and serves as point person for media relations under the Director of Marketing Communications.
Ensure brand consistency across all messaging and platforms.
Posts emergency communications (i.e. school closing/delay) via email, SMS messages, social media, phone, and website.
Assist as backup in crisis communication planning and execution as needed.
Analyze communication effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Perform duties and responsibilities often of a complex, responsible, and confidential nature, requiring a high degree of knowledge, discretion, and independent judgment
Must be able to interact with a variety of constituents in a highly professional manner and handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in an educational setting.
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Experience with website content management systems, email marketing, and social media platforms.
A collaborative, trust-based work style
