Middle School STEM Educator

The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Middle School STEM Educator to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a rigorous, relevant, and student-centered learning experience for every student we serve.  The ideal candidate will: Bring a bring a positive, professional, and collaborative approach to a talented team of colleagues within a robust Makerspace;  act as a teacher, inventor, scientist, and touchpoint for integration throughout the Middle School; and be passionate about teaching the whole child, understanding the value of contributing to the broader life of the school community, including advising, coaching, and leading extra-curricular activities.

Responsibilities - Reporting to the Head of Middle School, the Middle School STEM Educator will be responsible for the following:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to design, develop, and implement Educational Technology initiatives that align with the school’s mission.
• Model/Co-teach lessons and projects that integrate technology across all disciplines.
• Support Educational Technology use through daily advising and more formal training of educators both in and out of the classroom.
• Provide expertise with respect to iPads, MacBooks, and the Google Suite.
• Manage the Makerspace as a welcoming, inspiring, creative arena for student exploration.
• Create opportunities and programming in the Makerspace, including facilitating STEM-related teams and competitions.
• Support the Director of STEM and Educational Technology with oversight of middle school technology objectives.
• Fulfill the role of a Middle School Advisor.
• Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.

Qualifications - The following experience, skills and knowledge are required and/or preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge of a master level teacher and instructional coach while maintaining a growth mindset, and actively engages others in professional development.
• A successful track record of working and communicating effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, educators, staff, and parents.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a 10-month full-time exempt position available in August 2025. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
