Franklin Road Academy seeks a visionary educator to help lead the school's strategic initiatives in computer science, artificial intelligence, programming, and other emerging fields. This newly established role will begin in August 2025 and aims to position the school as a regional leader in innovative education.

The role will build on Franklin Road Academy's long-standing commitment to forward-thinking education, leveraging its state-of-the-art innovation labs, biotechnology lab, industry-standard recording studio, digital media studio (opening in 2025), and Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. FRA offers a robust curriculum with technology integrated from PK3 through Upper School, including plans for advanced coursework in AP and post-AP Computer Science, AI, machine learning, etc.

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead efforts to foster creativity, curiosity, and future-focused learning for US students in the fields of computer science and innovation.
  • Teach 4 courses, including AP and post-AP Computer Science, and develop a cohesive technology curriculum across divisions.
  • Champion innovative design thinking principles and emerging technologies, integrating them into academic and co-curricular programs.
  • Oversee and manage innovative programs such as US Robotics and coding clubs.
  • Create real-world, hands-on learning experiences that emphasize collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Develop metrics to assess the impact of innovation initiatives and adjust strategies to improve student outcomes.
  • Serve as an advisor for a small group of students, providing mentorship and engaging in the broader school community.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, STEM, educational technology, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies, including a skillset in one or more programming languages (e.g.: Java, Python, JavaScript, C++)
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in a school setting, with expertise in teaching computer science, coding, robotics, etc.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and school leadership.
  • Passion for fostering a growth mindset and a culture of innovation among students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the school's mission to provide a challenging educational experience in an inclusive Christian community.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Experience teaching AP Computer Science A or Principles
  • Experience leading co-curricular activities such as VEX Robotics
  • Experience in an independent school setting
  • Master's degree
