Reports to: Division Director of Lower School
Job Summary
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Classroom instruction includes whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the School as a whole.
- Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences, guided by student interests.
- Prepare assignments for students, review student work, and provide feedback and/or grades.
- Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.
- Design and implement a personal professional development plan as it relates to curriculum development, health and safety of students, or professional skills development.
- Engage in meaningful and collaborative work within the Ashley Hall community to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Perform other duties to support the work of Lower School and the School as a whole as assigned by department chairperson and/or division director.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in a relevant field
- Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.
- Ability to communicate clearly and the ability to work well with parents.

- Embrace a collaborative, interdisciplinary, team-oriented academic environment.
- Possess a working knowledge of Every Day Math, Teachers College Reading and Writing Project Units of Study, and/or Responsive Classroom.
- Have experience with project-based learning design
