Position Summary: The Housekeeping Assistant Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning, and supervising housekeeping operations, as well as supporting the Housekeeping Manager in managing employee expectations, training, and documentation. Additionally, they ensure that service and maintenance requests are handled promptly. The standard schedule is Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed based on operational demands.
Specific Duties Include:
Ensure that all the buildings are properly staffed and maintained with concern for safety, comfort and cleanliness.
Responsible for the monitoring, follow-up completion and reporting of all facility-related operations.
Directly supervise, train and develop Housekeepers and Housekeeper Leaders in the assigned areas. Includes training staff in established policies and procedures, establishing and maintaining work schedules to ensure efficient use of staff resources and time, and identifying changes to staffing patterns to complete work assignments.
Discuss general housekeeping procedures with Housekeeping Manager, recommend and implement changes in procedures as needed, conduct weekly staff meetings with Lead Housekeepers to discuss issues, assign tasks and/or perform ongoing training/skill development.
With approval of the Housekeeping Manager, coordinate staff schedules concerning vacation, time away, weekend coverage and emergency staffing.
Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
Complete incident reports and gathering of facts for work related injuries.
Maintain documentation on disciplinary issues and share as appropriate with Housekeeping Manager.
Evaluate employee performance per guidelines established by Woodward Academy HR and Directors.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Assistant Director of Facilities or Housekeeping Manager.
Required Skills:
Preference provided for candidates with prior School, University, hotel or multi-residential community housekeeping experience.
Demonstrated experience as a supervisor that develops a positive work environment within a housekeeping organization.
Extensive knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or best practices for operating a Housekeeping unit/ Services Operation.
Experience working within a student-oriented living or learning environment is preferred.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Valid driver license; must be insurable.
High school diploma.
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Services and housekeeping units.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs. unassisted.
The Housekeeping Assistant Manager position is a non-exempt, full time twelve-month position. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. EOE
