Collegiate School seeks a Logistics and Day Custodial Supervisor. The Supervisor will assist with planning, developing and implementing policies and procedures for campus Custodial and Logistical Services. This position supervises, directs and assists custodial personnel, procedures and operations in the cleaning and care of campus buildings to APPA Level 2 Standards. The Supervisor is responsible for all logistics, setups, special events and operations in order to meet the school logistical needs in a timely and efficient manner. They are responsible for managing the inventory of all custodial and logistical equipment and supplies. This position serves as the liaison to the night cleaning vendor’s manager in order to maintain an overlapping work schedule to ensure consistency in the cleanliness of buildings and support the needs of the community.  This position is designated as Essential Personnel during emergency situations.

 

This is a full-time benefitted position, 12-month position reporting directly to the Director of Facilities Management.

General Responsibilities include:

  • Supervises the daily operations of day school-employed custodial staff and ensures all custodial functions are delivered efficiently and effectively for the entire campus.
  • Monitors work in progress, providing visual inspection and service quality assurance to provide feedback to management and associates on the cleanliness and maintenance of those areas against standards.
  • Serves as working supervisor to meet the demands and needs of the School.
  • Communicates and coordinates with customers, peers, and other organization units as necessary to deliver the custodial program and event preparation to support the success of other programs.
  • Oversees and makes recommendations to improve the quality of services, cost control, and customer and employee satisfaction. Investigates custodial complaints, questions and concerns, and takes corrective actions.
  • Monitors all work order requests received, assigns work orders to staff, and closes out orders once completed; coordinates custodial and facilities services, including moving of furniture and equipment and setting up for meetings and special events; manages feedback from students, faculty, and staff, and resolves issues or refers them to appropriate departments, such as Facilities, Custodial vendor(s), Security, or Information Technology.
  • Assists with the training of staff in safe workplace procedures and in the safe operation and use of equipment and supplies.
  • Makes regular inspections of custodial tools, equipment, and related items for cleanliness, safety, appearance, operating effectiveness, and needed repair or replacement.
  • Monitors the inventory and maintains adequate levels and record keeping of custodial supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Purchases needed supplies, equipment, and services; develops specifications, identifies vendors, and obtains quotes on custodial equipment, supplies, and chemicals for facilities.
  • Learns and applies emerging technologies as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
  • Provides custodial support in emergency situations as needed.
  • Participates in Calendar and event logistics meetings to assist with preparation and feedback for successful outcomes of activities and events on campus.
  • Collaborate with departments to assure successful set-ups and event planning.  Supervise, assist, review and inspect all set-ups and processes to ensure efficiency, safety and sustainability of operations. Communicates with event organizers for updates and satisfaction. Develops and directs corrective strategies when and if required. 
  • Supervises the campus mail and package delivery and service operations.
  • Communicates daily and works closely with the outsourced Night Custodial Manager to coordinate cleaning schedules that accommodates academic schedules, athletic games, events and community needs.
  • Assist Plant Management and make recommendations for the development of Operational Budgets.
  • Assist with various personnel functions including hiring, promotion, employee evaluation, merit recommendations, disciplinary actions, time records and vacation schedules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • 5 years of experience in Custodial Services, including direct supervision of staff and program development
  • Demonstrated working knowledge, skills and expertise in Custodial Services and Systems
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of set-ups and special events planning implementation
  • Demonstrated initiative in the development and implementation of Custodial Service and management procedures, programs and strategies
  • Knowledge of green custodial principles and floor care equipment
  • Excellent reading, writing and comprehension skills and the ability to develop and maintain accurate records
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills with high attention to clarity and detail with ability to explain complex information/fact patterns in understandable terms to all levels of personnel
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based systems, word processing and spreadsheet software and Windows platform. Ability to develop and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to work under pressure within a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • A valid Virginia driver's license and the ability to meet Collegiate School’s driving criteria.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual coordination including finger dexterity, eye/hand/foot coordination, able to distinguish between colors, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, depth perception and hearing.
  • Must be able to walk the campuses regularly, lift, lower, carry, push and pull objects up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand, climb, bend, stoop and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • May be subjected to extreme heat and cold temperatures.  
  • Will be subjected to motor and/or machine noise.
